What’s Missing In Moderation?

June 7, 2016 By mark david mcCreary

Those who have extreme views will slant what is moderation. Moderator, usually, have a set of rules: guidelines put out by the community. And, thus any views that do not strictly break the rules will fester in the community. It can be compared to the letter of the law to the spirit of the law; common sense is still needed.

Key Takeaways:

  • Diehards dominate online conversations because others with more moderate views just don’t care enough to keep going.
  • Moderators are trained to eliminate rulebreakers rather than those who break unwritten codes of conduct.
  • The people who are loudest in an argument are those with the most extreme view of the issue.

“”Moderators are trained to remove posts and people which violate rules which can be written. They’re rarely trained to spot and tackle diehards who break unwritten rules.””
