Ryan Crowe says their are two parts in an online community, the members and the organization sponsoring the forum. And the job os the community manager is to manage conflict between the two groups.

I’m not advocating or promoting an Us vs. Them relationship. It’s Us and Them, and ultimately an ‘Us’; people trying to do their best to get what they want.
