Taking A Community Off Life Support

September 5, 2019 By mark david mcCreary

Sometimes it is best to cut your losses than to continue to invest time and effort into a community that hasn’t caught on with the public and found a loyal audience. Community member’s participation has a lot to do with the value they see in certain communities. If after restructuring a community and reassessing your targeted audience you still don’t see a strong participation in your community, it might be best to walk away from the project rather than continue to put time and effort into building a struggling community.

Key Takeaways:

  • When running a community, if you are the only one to trigger conversations, it might be best to admit it’s not working.
  • People do not participate in communities if they don’t see value in doing so.
  • Sometimes it is better to move on to a new project than stick with something that’s not working.
