Systems To Encourage More Content From Members

July 13, 2020 By mark david mcCreary

If you’re not seeing high-quality resources shared in your community, you may need to find a way to encourage it. One idea is to take a specific group (e.g., newcomers) and grant them the unique ability to create and share resources over a given time span. Another idea is to set a common challenge for groups of members to compete over. You can also set “sprints,” i.e., a designated time period to create or gather the best resources on a topic. Finally, you can implement a share-to-get system where members must share their own resource in order to gain access to other resources.

Key Takeaways:

  • lack of high quality resources shared is due to lack of encouragement
  • try to create urgency by limiting time members can share
  • don’t be boring with the approach or your content shared

“The best ideas come from tweaking who can create/post the resource, when they can do it, and on what topics they can do it.”
