Private messages started out as a great way to communicate privately. Now with more and more people online there are more and more darker things involved with Private Messaging. It’s now a place where Spam gets sent to, darker conversations, angrier messages, and viruses. Depending on the website there can be ways to get rid of the unwanted messages or filter them out. Key Takeaways:

  • Private messages are private. It’s unlikely anyone will know of another’s private message issue unless the messaged sees fit to report an abuse.
  • As a community leader you can restrict some of the potential for abuse by turning off private messaging, or at least making it a privilege for senior members.
  • One way to assess where problems could lie is to track high volume senders and recipients.
