How Active Do You Think Your Community Will Be? – The Online Community Guide

Richard Millington asks a simple question, and suggests that a simple mailing list be used when starting out, or if you are not expecting lots of activity.

If you have a forum, you need a lot of activity or it appears dead. If you don’t have a large amount of activity, it looks dead.  This isn’t the case for a mailing list. The e-mint mailing list can go days, perhaps weeks, without any activity.
