Fewer Tactics, More Strategy

In order to best manage groups of people, especially online, it is better to employ a more strategic approach than a tactical one. Thinking strategically involves looking at your problems on a larger scale, as opposed to thinking tactically, which involves looking at individual issues on a smaller scale. This is not to say that tactical thinking is completely ineffective; rather, in order for tactics to be better implemented, one must employ a solid overarching strategy in order to apply the right tactics in a time-efficient manner, which will ultimately yield better results.

Key Takeaways:

  • It’s critical to define a clear strategy and then to identify no more than 7 tactics with that framework.
  • An example of a tactic would be to give your very best members access to inside information.

“It’s impossible to be successful if you’re dividing your time into smaller chunks while hoping for bigger results.”
